KamiVita („we,” „us,” „our,” or „Company”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application („App”).

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our App.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

Camera and Photo Library Access:

  • When you use the food scanning feature, we may access your device’s camera to capture images of food labels
  • You may grant permission to access your photo library to select previously taken food images
  • These images are processed to extract nutritional information and are not stored on our servers unless you explicitly save them

Account Information:

  • Email address (if you create an account)
  • Subscription preferences and purchase history through RevenueCat
  • User profile information you choose to provide

Scan History:

  • We store your food scan history locally on your device
  • This history is retained for your convenience and can be deleted at any time
  • Scan history includes product names, nutritional analysis, health ratings, and timestamps

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Analytics Data:

  • We use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage patterns and improve user experience
  • Firebase collects data about:
    • Features you use and how frequently
    • Screen views and navigation patterns
    • Food scan events (product name, health rating, scan method)
    • App crashes and errors
    • Device information (OS version, device model)
    • App version and build information
  • Firebase Analytics does not collect personal identification data by default
  • All analytics data is anonymized and aggregated

Device Information:

  • Device model and operating system version
  • App version and build information
  • Crash logs and error reports
  • Device identifiers (non-personal)

Camera Permissions:

  • We collect information about whether you have granted or denied camera and photo library permissions
  • This is used only to enable the core functionality of the app

4.1 Third-Party Service Providers

Food Analysis Processing:

  • Google Cloud : For optical character recognition (OCR) to extract text and nutritional information from food label images. Images are sent to Google’s servers for processing and are not permanently stored by us.
  • AI API: For generating nutritional analysis, health recommendations, and alternative product suggestions based on extracted label information.
  • Backend server: For orchestrating the food analysis workflow and coordinating between Google Cloud and AI services.

Analytics & Crash Reporting:

  • Firebase Analytics (Google): For collecting app usage analytics, tracking user behavior, and identifying crash reports. Firebase helps us understand how users interact with the app to improve features and performance.

Subscription & Payment Processing:

  • RevenueCat: For processing in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat securely handles payment information and subscription management.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations

5. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

5.1 Local Storage

  • Your scan history is stored locally on your device using secure device-level encryption
  • This data remains under your control and can be deleted at any time through the app settings
  • We save user identificator number in our backend server
  • We do not have access to your locally stored scan history

5.2 Cloud Storage

  • Food analysis requests are sent to our service for processing
  • Images are processed temporarily and not permanently stored on our servers
  • We use industry-standard security measures to protect data in transit

5.3 Image Processing and Retention

Important: When you use the food scanning feature:

  • Your food label images are sent to Google Cloud API and AI for analysis
  • These images are processed in real-time to extract nutritional information
  • Images are NOT permanently stored on KamiVita servers
  • Google and OpenAI may retain images temporarily according to their own retention policies
  • We do not have access to your images after processing is complete
  • For sensitive food information, consider your privacy with these third-party services

5.4 Security Measures

  • All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using SSL/TLS
  • We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect against unauthorized access
  • Firebase Analytics encrypts data in transit and at rest
  • However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure

6. FIREBASE ANALYTICS DETAILS

What Firebase Collects:

  • App usage statistics (features used, frequency of use)
  • User journey and navigation patterns
  • Screen views and events
  • App crashes and performance issues
  • Device type, OS version, and language settings
  • Approximate location (based on IP address, not GPS)

How Firebase Uses Data:

  • To provide analytics dashboards and reports
  • To identify performance issues and crashes
  • To improve app stability and user experience
  • For Google’s own analytics and product development

Controlling Firebase Analytics:

  • You can limit ad tracking in your device settings
  • Firebase respects Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) on iOS
  • You can opt out of analytics in the app settings
  • Disabling analytics may limit our ability to improve the app

Firebase Data Retention:

  • Firebase retains event data for 14 months
  • Aggregate data is retained longer for trend analysis

7. DISCLAIMER ABOUT ANALYSIS ACCURACY

IMPORTANT: The nutritional analysis and health ratings provided by KamiVita are for informational purposes only and should not be considered medical or dietary advice.

  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of information provided by the app
  • Food analysis is based on label recognition and external databases, which may contain errors
  • Health ratings are generated algorithmically and may not be suitable for all individuals
  • You should not make health or dietary decisions based solely on KamiVita’s analysis
  • Consult with a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized nutrition advice
  • If you have allergies, medical conditions, or dietary restrictions, always verify information with authoritative sources

8. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Our App is not intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we discover that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete such information.

For users below 18 years old, parental guidance is recommended, especially regarding the health and nutritional guidance features.

9. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

12. COOKIES AND TRACKING

Our App does not use traditional cookies. However, Firebase Analytics and third-party services may use similar tracking technologies on your device for analytics purposes. You can disable analytics tracking in app settings.

13. THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES

Our App may contain links to third-party services and applications that are not operated by us. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of Google Cloud, OpenAI, Firebase, and RevenueCat before using their services.

14. DATA RETENTION

  • Scan History: Retained locally on your device until you delete it (default: up to 100 most recent scans)
  • Analytics Data (Firebase): Retained for up to 14 months; aggregated data retained longer
  • Account Data: Retained for as long as your account is active, plus 30 days after deletion
  • Subscription Data: Retained in RevenueCat’s system as required for payment processing and regulatory compliance
  • Processed Images: Not retained on our servers; temporary processing only

15. DO NOT TRACK SIGNALS

Some browsers and devices include a „Do Not Track” feature. Our App does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. However, you can control tracking through:

  • Device-level privacy settings
  • App analytics settings
  • Firebase tracking limitations

16. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

If you are located outside the United States, your data may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries. By using our App, you consent to such transfers. We implement appropriate safeguards to protect your data during international transfers.

17. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the „Last Updated” date at the top of this policy and, if required, by other means such as email or in-app notification.
